AboutCaitlin Leggett is a 23-year-old journalist from Durham, North Carolina. She currently works as an Production Assistant and Assignment Editor for NBC Washington and previously worked on the MSNBC show "SYMONE." She received her master's degree from Full Sail University and her bachelor's degree from North Carolina Wesleyan University in Mass Communications and Computer Information Systems while minoring in Journalism. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
She played collegiate volleyball, and co-founded the campus news channel "BGA News." She has worked internships at WHIG-TV in Rocky Mount, NC, and at NPR's WUNC Radio. At WUNC she went from intern to digital producer, putting out several award winning stories & social media channels. She also curated an Instagram Live series entitled "Changing Channels" where she interviews artists, athletes, and influencers. The Pushcart Nominee has been featured in many literary magazines and published her first book and collection of poems, entitled "The Mad, Black, Woman: Diaries on the Intersectionality of a Black Woman." |

As a journalist, I am bound by journalistic integrity and a code of ethics set by several different credible communities. I look to be objective, fair, truthful, and humane in my reporting.

- Increasing the number of Black journalists and media professionals in management positions and encouraging Black journalists to become entrepreneurs;
- Fostering an exemplary group of professionals that honors excellence and outstanding achievements by Black journalists, and outstanding achievement in the media industry as a whole, particularly when it comes to providing balanced coverage of the Black community and society at large;
